The “Butcherbird,” as the masked Loggerhead Shrike is known, is a songbird that acts like a raptor. In grasslands and open country, it preys on insects, birds, lizards, and small mammals, and because it lacks a raptor’s talons, it skewers its kill on thorns or barbed wire. Although their numbers have dropped sharply in North America, they’re still quite common in the South, where they perch on fence posts and power lines.

Embroidered bird patch with iron-on backing. Adhesive is temporary. For durability, we recommend sewing or using a permanent, flexible fabric glue.
